Yesterday part of Team Stickney had a rare day off and made the journey to London to meet up with our friends from America, Kay, Karen and Carol. Toby stayed behind to look after all the animals. Mum and I made our way to Heathrow to the hotel our friends were staying in, we were also meeting up with my Aunt and Uncle. We had a lovely time chatting about the good old days and filling our friends in on recent goings on at the yard.
For lunch my Aunt suggested we all go to a lovely little cafe in Runnymede. Runnymede is a water-meadow alongside the River Thames where the Magna Carta was believed to be sealed in 1215 by King John. After a delicious lunch we visited the various attractions around the site including the Jurors, the Magna Carta memorial and the John F Kennedy memorial. Whilst at the Magna Carta memorial I spied a lovely fallen tree trunk that was so inviting as a jump!
We then went back to the hotel in Heathrow for some refreshments before heading across the road to the Three Magpies pub for dinner. After letting dinner settle and waiting for rush hour traffic to ease Mum and I said goodbye to our friends and relatives and made our way back home to the yard.
It was a tiring but wonderful day catching up with friends we have not seen for 20 years.
