Sharon Poole

As Stickney Riding Centre's proprietor and instructor I (Sharon Poole) started my life-long obsession with horses at the age of six.  I learnt to ride at several local riding schools and at the age of 16 went to Peterborough Regional College to study for the B.H.S.A.I.  As part of my training for the B.H.S.A.I. I attended Warwickshire College, gaining a Certificate In Sports Coaching from The National Coaching Foundation.  I was one of only 10 people to pass the course, one of the others being the international show jumper Rodrigo Pessoa.  During my time at College I worked for different riding establishments gaining confidence and experience in teaching.

On leaving College I was lucky enough to obtain a job working for German Dressage rider and trainer Angela Niemeyer Eastwood.  Whilst based with Angela I was fortunate enough to gain the ride on several competition horses and was the yards overall reserve champion in 1998.  As part of my job I helped with the breaking and training of youngstock.  One of the youngsters I backed qualified for a class at the Royal International Horse Show.

I taught at several yards after leaving my job with Angela, helping my clients gain in confidence and achieve goals with their horses.  One of my most successful clients now runs her own stud, breeding and showing Highland ponies, she has competed at many high level shows including Three Counties, Horse Of The Year Show and Olympia.
